Simulants

While based on similar technology to mechanoids, simulants contain a number of biomechanical parts which serve to make their appearance more human. Apart from their deranged and violent psychoses, that is. Simulants were created to kill in a war that never took place, and now search the galaxy looking for worthy foes.

Simulants

The Red Dwarf crew first encountered a simulant when they came across a pod ejected from a prison ship belonging to one Barbra Bellini. Sadly, Ms Bellini had lost out to one of the deranged simulant prisoners. He was followed by the Inquisitor, and then a male and female simulant team who enjoyed toying with their prey so much that they upgraded Starbug - adding laser cannons and removing the squeak from the seat-tilt control.

Simulants

Most recently a simulant attempted to have his GELF assistant ransack Starbug while the crew bartered for spare mech heads. They got the heads, but lost the body to which they were to be attached. Destroying the simulant's ship while he was on board seemed only fair.

Simulants

Operational notes: For those looking for the main difference between androids and simulants, it is this - an android would never rip off a human's head and spit down his neck.
