Mr Flibble Talks To... I Toast Therefore I Am
John Lenahan put in two appearances during Red Dwarf's first season. But don't worry if you don't recognise him - he was the voice of original, and most musical, talking toaster. Mr Flibble talks to the magician who also heats bread...

Why do think the Toaster was so miserable?

If you think about a toaster, just think about how dreadful life would be. They get stuff stuffed in their face, then they get it smashed down, then they heat up to a painful [degree] and there's no thanks...

Some toasters do sing...

"Fly me to the moon and let me play among the stars...Let me see what spring is like on Jupiter and Mars..." My goal in life is to have a lounge act in a Holiday Inn, where I get to sing Fly Me To The Moon and Makin' Whoopee behind a keyboard that's covered in zebra fur. Then you get to say, 'Hey, how ya doin'? You just married? How long you been married? Two weeks? And they said it wouldn't last...'

So yeah, the Toaster was me, really. And it epitomised the peak of my cooking skills as well. I'm just making some toast, believe it or not. Have you ever had cinnamon toast?

Mr Flibble said he preferred a nice bit of halibut.

Oh, you're missing out! It's just regular buttered toast, and then you get some sugar and you mix some cinnamon in it, pour it over the top. And it's awesome. I can't live without it. I pre-mix it in a little shaker...
