Mr Flibble Talks To... Often Heard
You might not know the name, but you've seen the face and you've definitely heard the voice. Rupert Bates has clocked up numerous appearances in Red Dwarf more, even, than his interviewer, Mr Flibble...

No. It's funny, a friend was saying yesterday, 'You should be doing radio, you've got such a lovely voice.' It's never something I've really gone for - perhaps I should.

I did this wonderful, wonderful tape a few years back with Ed and Jem [Whippey]. We spent about 24 hours doing it, all three of us. It was just this four and a half minute story, but it was so beautifully produced and written. It was about a man lying in bed. He listens to the radio, and then he falls down the stairs because of his son's skateboard, and then he switches on the television and all these channels come on. He does a voiceover saying, 'Oh, for Christ's sake...' There's Terry Wogan, Patrick Moore and morris dancing. He goes to the cinema and the train station, and there's a dog barking there as well. (Barks - extremely well!) I did all the voices.
