I will not be smiling happily at your avatar, Neil. It's even worse than the Pingu one. What's with this obsession with children's TV show characters of the past anyway?

it's not an obsession, it's a religious experience and realisation.

Sooty and Sue were good of course, but sweep was great. He was the one we modelled ourselves on, our life stick, our icon. He truly showed us the way and the light. like I say in my avatar. Mumfie, pingu and sweep form the holy trinity, sent from on high to teach us, and thus we shall all live more enriching lives by worshipping in the healing warmth of their burning flames

I was nearly born at the live Sooty show. My mum went into labour there (she had taken my older brother there). And my middle name is one of the characters.

I always called Sweep "Dweeky" as a very little girl (probably trying to say "Squeaky"). I named a guinea pig Dweeky due to this. I was pissed off when my own Dweeky puppet's squeak ran out.

My dad used to have a Matthew Corbett type beard. But he actually looked and sounded more like Harry H Corbett off Steptoe.

My friend had a creepy painting of a little girl holding a cat. We were terrified of it as it would sometimes appear to smile. That same painting appeared in the background of one of the Sooty tv series' and it proper spooked me.

Basically what I'm trying to say is Neil should stfu.

Is this a bit? Are you trying to do a bit? This is very poor, this ranks below the Kenneth Williams diaries as a forum gimic and that's saying something.

Well, if he's going to just sit there contributing nothing to the forum but quotes from someone else's diary, he should stick to his own thread instead of randomly putting them all over the place.

The show went OK but I farted very loudly during the 2nd act & there were cries of dirty sod... Ingrid Bergman didn't notice!
