    Hi everyone,

With the eagerly anticipated RD XI just around the corner, I thought it was time to put this item out there again and see what interest there is - pictures below, I can post links for original res images if needed. I last posted about this back in 2012, but life got in the way before I had a chance to progress a sale.

I worked at the Visual Effects unit as a temp over Easter 1989 (during my first year at uni), and was part of the team tasked with chucking out the remaining bits of the original Red Dwarf model. This was after the shelf fall - as I remember it fell from around 15 feet up in the props store - top shelf might not have been the best place to put it! It was rather heartbreaking to have to chuck it into a skip, but I managed to 'salvage' this bit in a binbag.

I'm open to offers on this piece, please PM me if you'd like to bid. I would rather it went to a Red Dwarf fan than just sell it to Prop Store or similar outfit. If I still have it come April I'll look at bringing it to Dimension Jump for the auction.

    Cheers,

    TheMagpie.

    I've sent a few PM's, any updates?

Out of curiosity, when you handled the model was it completed on it's unseen left side or was it just hollow?

    Hi,
Sorry, I just realised that the PMs were going into spam, I'll check through these shortly - travelling at the moment.

I only ever handled bits of the model (it was no longer in one piece...) but as I recall it was a complete ship, not just a facade.

I'd love to restore this, I've ID & have most of the missing kit bashed parts.

It's still bugging me that I can't ID the cement mixer shaped part on the bottom square panel. Its probably the hips/crotch part from some 80's Japanese Mecha kit with extra panel lines carved into it.

Usually, if I identify one part I can ID other parts from the same kit used elsewhere on the model.
