    Hi

Im new here so let me apologise in advance if this is in the wrong section.

For years ive being a fan of the model and prop work from Red Dwarf. One prop in peticular always camptured my imgination and that was Rimmer's light bee. Never really seen in huge detail in the show i had to track down as much info as i could to build a replica. and here is the one i have built. Its not 100% screen accurate but it works for me :-)

    Thanks for viewing

Very cool! If it was just a little thinner (and silver instead of blue), I'd say it was a damned near perfect replica :-)

    Absolutely marvelous!

Incidentally, I have the exact same Red Dwarf patch sewn on my Parka Jacket. Made it look like a Space Corps Away Team Kit or something.

    Cool, I like it!

Do you have that shirt customised to be a RD uniform? Give us a full shot of it if you have. Is that t-shirt underneath a London Jets or a Mugs Murphy one? ;-)

I thought the original prop was metallic blue? it certainly never looked a flat silver colour did it? Well certainly not going off these photos (apart from the one in the top right which was a different prop). With very little infomation to go on about the prop i had these photos to work from :-) Besides i quite like the metallic blue. It matches the 'Hard light' Blue of Rimmer in his Hard Light form. Im planning on making more than one of these so maybe the next one will be Silver :-)

As for the size yes that was my only problem im afraid. The cones made for the original were about a 40 degree cone which i just couldnt track down (i even contacted Mike Tucker!) So i had to use 2 60 degree cones which obviously throw off the rest of the look of the prop.

    Hi

The green shirt is just an army surplus shirt with patches put on it. I have 2 Red Dwarf 'Jupiter mining corp' patches on each arm and then a Second Technician above the left breast pocket. I have 2 t shirts, a red London Jets shirt and the one you see in the photo is the classic 'Give Quiche a chance' shirt from Polymorph:-)

Thanks for the comments everyone. Always wanted a replica of this prop :-)

A friend of mine used to work at the BBC were most of the models and props from Red Dwarf were held at the time. He held the Light bee from Legion which still had the little chip inside :-D

You're right, it's very hard to tell... maybe the next one you can mix a little blue into silver paint for a silver with a blueish "hue".
