Good. Hopefully you won't disgrace the event with your presence.
A certain Howard Rimmer quote springs to mind, it's most appropriate. That and one of my other favourite movie quotes by Sgt Elias in Platoon.
I think I might actually make it for the first time ever. Should be fun but I've never gone before coz I always felt going solo would be a bit weird.
Edit, I love the new logo, it is very Atari-esque 8)
Stop being an antagonist...
If enough people from here are going, we'll organise some kind of official forum meet-up early on in the weekend, so that you can specifically all meet each other without having to sit on the other side of the room squinting, going, "I wonder if that's so-and-so...?"
A bit closer to the time, I'll start up a thread or something and people can post names and arrange it all.
Well if anyone has joined in or seen the jager pong game that sometimes goes on there, well I'm the one who sorts it all out
But good idea Seb, for those that want to meet other forum members
Talk about pot and kettle. In any case as you point out with monotonous regularity, you're not a moderator here so don't tell me what to do.
That's an excellent idea Seb.
I admit, when I went to Dimension Jump a couple of years back I was a bit of a Billy-no-mates, hanging around by myself. With the exception of the initial quiz, where a nice chap joined me at my table, I kind of kept to myself. (Actually Jo from the fan club recognised me from the BtE London event and went out of her way to talk to me and introduced me to someone else from the G&T site which was very sweet of her.)
Don't get me wrong, I largely entertained myself. I queued up for the signings, etc, enjoyed the various presentations and mooched around the merchandise room, and bought a few items, but I'll admit it felt a bit lacking from the social aspect. I'm glad I went, but I was in no rush to go to another, if that makes sense. I'm aware, I only have myself to blame for this. I'm just ridiculously shy when I first meet people. (I guess I over-compensate by waffling on here. Heh.)
My feelings towards going have changed somewhat, however, and I have been seriously considering going to the next DJ. A lot has happened in the realm of Red Dwarf since then, and I think it could be really worth-while.
An actual organised meet-up would be beneficial as it provides an opportunity to break the ice, which is my main issue.
Run on sentences may be another issue of mine.
If you go again next year, you can hang out with me all weekend no worries. Downside is, I do a lot of close up magic when Im nervous.
Heh heh. Thanks. That's not a bad coping mechanism. I like close-up magic.
Great idea, Seb. I thought I'd recognise people from here at DJ, but then I wasn't sure enough to introduce myself.
Sounds like a plan.
I remember this! Which is pretty good going, most DJ weekends are a bit of a blur for me I hope you come along, it'd be lovely to see you again!
If this was Facebook, I'd 'like' this comment.
What's your name on Facebook Bluey? I'll add you as a friend!!
I'm looking forward to going and meeting as many of you as possible.
I can imagine. You were pretty busy! I appreciate you remembering me.
It would be lovely to see you again too, Jo.
Well it's not.
So you can't.
& shame on you for encouraging antagonists!!!
Are you going to DJ?
Sounds like a perfect idea! Thank you!
I've started my list of stuff I need to get for DJ
