This is the twentieth end of the world to my knowledge in recent years, and if it does end, who'll be here to say told you so anyway?

I'm ok here in Newcastle, it's always to cold and wet to make any difference here. A gamma ray burst from a pulsar directed straight at my house or our solar star going supernova, would in all honestly just make it a little less damp here.

Geordies couldn't float to heaven, their black and white striped beer guts would prevent them getting off the ground

Whenever it's the end of the word, keep an eye on the Line Islands. They are the world's earliest time zone, thus the very first place to see each new day. If the Line Islands are still there, then it's probably going to be okay.

Well our Star, the Sun, has been estimated to have about another 130 million more years before it starts to run out of the stuff that's keeps it going, at which point it would start to expand and swallow up the planets in its orbit. After that it will go supernova, Big Boom. I'm sure the Human race will be well gone before that happens, I would like to know what the earth will be like in the time between human extinction and the millions of years until the Sun Explodes.

Well, probably a nuclear wasteland if things keep going like they are. Never in my life have I been more worried about that. NEVER, and I remember practicing for "the bomb" in elementary school.

Well, I started this thread for that crazy, imho, "end of the world, rapture" stuff. But I thought of something else so may just use this thread for all my questions about your side of the pond. (I wonder who was the first to call the Atlantic a "pond" vis a vis discussion between the U.K. and the U.S.?)

Anyway, our temperature dropped 15 degrees over night. From highs of 88 to 97 degrees last week to highs of 69/75 THIS week. Lows the same. Does the UK experience the same dramatic changes this time of the year?

Yes, it does. I can sum up the uk by saying, it sucks up all your social fads , trends and smege and it then hits out shores about four weeks later . We both seem to share the crapp that our country's have to offer tv talent wise as well. We give you smeg like James corden and piers Morgan and you give us bilge like Jersey shore, and whatever other crap you can inflict on us

I genuinely believe if you didn't love our accents so much, your never even bother with half of our so called stars, mind you, I don't know who would then play your bad guys

Well, don't kid yourself too much about that "accent" thing. No offense, but what you take for "love" is mainly confusion and barely suppressed hilarity. I mean really, "Loo"?!? And Satan will be needing an air conditioner before I consider Cockney as anything but an entirely different language. And you all make fun of my Welsh ancestors way of talking! We've actually gotten away from the British bad guy thing too, now its almost always Russians.

Totally agree with the cross pond trading of bilge though. Have never seen Jersey Shore but ....... I've spent a lot of time in New Jersey so can only imagine that particular horror. And accent or not John Cleese is a comedy GOD.

For clarification purposes, I might add that I have many more "friends" from the U.K. than I have here in the States. Either here or in the Tech help forums I'm a member of, the vast majority of my friends are U.K. citizens. But then..... you all write better English than speak it.
