Good news. I'm actually looking forward to the deleted scenes. I'd have thought leaving in the squid explanation would have filled in a small plot hole though.* To be fair, I suppose Kryten's explanation that the ink is for defensive purposes does that to a degree. It suggests the squid views them as predators rather than prey. Another difference between the sexes maybe?

*Obviously I don't know what that explanation is. Until I see it, I really can't tell.

Hope it's got a reversable cover so you can choose between one that matches up with the others and one that looks like the one in the story :-D

quick question, talking as someone holding out hope for a blu-ray released to be announced, are the documentaries for the DVD being filmed in HD?

Isn't it the case on HDDVDs R.I.P. and Blu-ray that extras are shot in 480p resolution?

extras can be any resolution the main feature can be, so 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i and 1080p. often you'll get a mix of SD and HD extras, sometimes all HD and sometimes all SD.

I suppose it's all down to whether the interviews and everything were shot on HD cameras, considering size is no object when we're talking Blu-ray.
Unless of course they upscale the extras?

Down to cost most of the time. I would say that any extras would be usually shot in SD, but if the Red cameras were available at the time, I'm sure they would have been used. I'm hoping for a 5-1 sound layer, but I always do! Master Audio 7-1 would be out of this world! 5-1 would be a first for a Red Dwarf DVD as well, again cost. I'm just happy it's being made! I'm not really bothered about any spine connection to any previous releases. And now is the time to make something new!

Looking forward to all the extras!

Could the Smeg up's be called Smeg BitE's ??

The whole thing will be visualy fantastic on DVD anyway, Films look better than Tv shows, so Red cameras will look better than...Most things and even better when in HD shame i don't have a blu-ray player.
