Previous releases have been very close indeed. But not this time. Back to Earth hasn't even been on TV in the states yet!

I understand there are various contractual things that have to happen, but right now releases in the USA and Oz are 'going to happen at some point'. Specifics will appear on reddwarf.co.uk as soon as they're worked out.

i found this on the BBC America blog

"Red Dwarf returns to TV. Can DVD be far behind?

The first new Red Dwarf episodes in ten years aired earlier this month in the UK to great acclaim and record viewership. And they were shot in HD! In the U.S. and Canada, we expect to see a pristine DVD with loads of extras before the year ends"

    Damn...:-(

Amazon.co.uk have a new BTE cover up: Here.
It looks very nice with the cast and crews names being in small text like a movie poster just makes it extra special...Oh god i want it.
    EDIT: YAY official!

Just seen the article on the main page about the DVD cover. I like it but I hope it's a normal DVD box rather than a cardboardy type. I hate those things:evil:

Sounds like it'll be a cardboardy type, based on it being called a 'digipack'. Shame really as they scuff up far too easily I find (my copy of Gladiator looks a bit mankier now than it should as a result)

The card type often looks very nice, but I largely agree. The plastic kind is better for case placement.

That's what I fear. I wonder if there'll be a non cardboard box release in the future? With all the shiny extras of course.

I'm totally happy! Finally 5.1 digital surround! Not particular high on some peoples list, but for me it's near the top!

I'm also glad the cover follows the show format. I don't mind the cardboard covers, it just means you have to look after them a bit more, the only one I had a problem with was the Predator box that came unglued! After all it's the contents that's most important.

    Doesn't seem likely...

Anyway, yes, a digipack is 'cardboardy' with a slipcase. The decision was taken to match the box to the show as much as possible.

I'd just like to say that the Back To Earth cover looks great. It's probably my favourite after Bodysnatcher.

    I've just thought:

(I think it's you who wrote that Andrew, I seem to recall you wrote all the old ones, but this one isn't credited)

Anyhow, onto my very pedantic point, I've just scanned through a few pages of the episode 2 thread (God it was horrible at times, I'd forgotten how bad things were during the aftermath of the specials!), and couldn't find any reference to people insisting on it. Are you making things up or have I just missed them all?

Sorry, but I'm in one of those moods and have nobody else to annoy at the moment :P

On a related note, I do like the look of the new cover. I think it also explains why we weren't given it for a desktop wallpaper at the time

    I thought that myself.

I saw a few people say "I wonder if..." but don't recall any "this must..."'s. :-p
