It's been confirmed by Doug Naylor on Twitter, I asked him and he said no to commentary :-(
very disappointed but if we didn't have the 2 hour doc I would be well peeved, that eases
    the pain a bit :-)

I would love to see the reverse cover that blends in with the other series dvd's.

Well I think I know which one I'll be having. I much prefer this one. Nice to see the Cat on the front cover actually!

That's a fan mockup, not a genuine cover.

Did you not like the wonderful documentaries and deleted scenes on the previous DVDs? Didn't you rate them much higher than the cast commentaries? The cast commentaries are very much an inessential extra to me. Entertaining but not very important.

So, as some had expected, the opposite side of the cover DOES have a bonus image that's closer to the other ones.

I hate to say it, but... it looks WORSE.

or at least that's what I think.

I'll forgive no commentary like I forgave back to earth *shudders*

I would hope it had a commentary added though. It's always the best extra... apart from when Robert Lllllwelllyn says"don't talka bout the episode because it's a spoiler"
Think he missed the point of doing a commentary haha

    Red Dwarf X is awesome

At first glance I wasn't too sure but when I enlarged the image, I thought it was rather nice.

My only problem is that while I love the idea of them all matching, BtE still won't! Of course the idea is not to include it in that sequence, but there's a part of me that wants to put them in chronological order.

I hope that they re-release Back to Earth so that it has a reversible cover like Series X, that way it won't break the mould and the complete matching collection will have everything nicely fitting together with a series inbetween VIII and X, the way that it should be!

Following the reveal of the set matching Series X cover, I have been compelled to revise my home made Series IX cover to make it match.

Unfortunately I cannot find a high resolution picture of Lister where I don't have to cut his shoulder off. Oh well. Hey Ho, Pip and Dandy.

EDIT to add: If anyone wants this cover to use please message me with your email address.

The lack of commentaries makes me undecided on whether I will be getting the DVD too. Cast commentaries would have been nice but having commentaries from Doug on every episode would have been great. That is a massive loss.

Obviously I will wait to see how the rest of the series goes and what the documentary is likely to contain. If the documentary were to contain the full story of the non-making of the movie then that would make it much more appealing.

Whilst I will certainly be turning the DVD slip cover onto the reverse to get it looking the same as the others, it is a shame that there is no official BTE cover that can be reversed to call it Series IX and match the others. I'm still deciding if I should even buy BTE just to "complete the set" as it were, but if I did, I would certainly love to download that custom made IX cover posted above and use it instead of the standard one.

Those are really nice covers, BrotherTutBar - for both BTE and RDX.
