Here's something interesting that I've noticed - Lemons was the episode I enjoyed the most out of the three upon initial viewing, though is now probably the one I like the least.

Someone mentioned that they feel nervous watching the episodes and it spoils their enjoyment of it first time around, I think I'm also experiencing it that way.

Clearly it just appealed to them most, different eyes tend to see different things. I have seen people who think that Pete part 2 was the best episode, citing how funny Archie was. Frankly I find Lemons much easier to believe.

You know, Islam is a relatively young religion compared to Christianity and it's basically at the point at which the Christians were launching crusades burning people for being witches... it may just be that a common theme in religions is to go through a more violent stage at that point.

I really, really liked Lemons. I've really greatly enjoyed all the new episodes so far; and there are some episodes from classic and past seasons that I probably like all three better than. But best ever? Not for me. Not even close.

(For the Record - My "Best Ever" episode is Future Echoes).

Thats why two or 3 beers while watching the first time helps :-) you lose all thew "OOOH NEW RD EPISODE" feeling and just watch it :-)

I've had 2 beers with each of the first 3 episodes and still felt nervous. On your advice I'll up it to 3 for episode 4:-D

If you have to drink beers to enjoy a sitcom then it isn't very good.

    At all. :x

I wonder if any other fans of a show watch it feeling nervous!

It's a strange phenomena because usually after a show has jumped the shark and effectively been cancelled its rare to see it return.

Of course! I think most of us do for several reasons:

    1) It's back after so long, you're nervous because you want it to be amazing and not a rehash/shadow of what it once was.

    2) Many hope it redeems Series VII and VIII.

    3) They have hyped it up so much mentally it would be a massive disapointment if it fails.

    4) Personally, I've recommended it to loads of people and forced many to watch it with me (at gunpoint).

Oh come on, as if he meant that. If it as nerves due to it being rubbish then we wouldn't have felt that way until AFTER the first episode. He's suggesting that drinking beers loosens you up and allows you to enjoy the show rather than judge each joke as it comes by and not see the whole.

I don't need artificial stimulants to "enjoy the show".

Exactly - Somehow it puts you into "critique mode" Like you are judging what you think others may be thinking of it rather than taking it in, getting lost and enjoying it. I definitely need something to numb the receptors from feeling the adrenaline flowing in my veins. I had beer with Trojan and Lemons, but not with FandS and it really affected how I watched it the first time. A few cans and a curry, and a few miniture crunchy bars with trojan too for the jokes of lister's machine maintenance and I feel completely relaxed watching the show.

Perhaps you haven't noticed but Simulant tends to make contrary statements in response to the posts of others. It's part of his charm I'm starting to realise;-)
