Absolutely brilliant episode. I really like it.
I mean wtf "after the corrosive organism was destroying the ship, and I.." Might as well have said "remember series 8? It was good"
Haha I absolutely LOVED how they handled the series 8 cliffhanger. One of my highlights of Red Dwarf X for sure, combined with the post-credits scene.
One slight thing though, I was watching an internet feed which died for 6 minutes right after the (brilliant) scene with Cat and the string and came back on just before the final battle with the simulants. So obviously I missed a big chunk of something in the middle, will have to watch the repeat.
I quite like the way the series 8 cliffhanger was handled. Sort of left to our imagination.
The last 10 minutes of this episode makes up for all the things wrong with some of the other episodes. Brilliant stuff!
I'm normally the LAST person to make a complaint, and this will be the first time I've ever made one about Red Dwarf.
A really disappointing end IMO. Felt a little insulted and angry that this had been hyped up the way it was. Very poorly titled too.
I wonder if series 8 never happened. Kinda like Dallas.
Great episode! Bit disappointed none of the cliffhangers were resolved, but have to laugh at Naylor's insouciance.
It was the absolute best way to do it, if you think about it. After all this time and after so much fan speculation to tease addressing it and then snatch it away was just brilliant and, more importantly, it was VERY Dwarf. That's exactly how they've handled cliffhangers in the past such as when Lister gave birth to the twins.
Despite the disappointment of not finding out what happened, I really loved the way they did that.
Or Doug just can't think of one?
How did they handle the cliffhanger? Think I missed that bit..?
Seems like you think it was series 1-6 rimmer whereas it have me the impression we have series 8 rimmer with memories of his series 1 death...
Loved it!!! But now Im sad that there will be no new episodes until(hopefully) a next series.
I also liked how Rimmer mentioned Jiu Jitsu(I practice Gracie Jiu Jitsu)
Red Dwarf FTW!!!!
get over it
Isn't The beginning a reflection on Rimmer?
It's quite a significant shift on the story of his character.
I class this episode, Trojan, and Entangled as the highlights of the series.
And I give Series X 8/10 very very good. Hoping for a series XI
Now that was Red Dwarf...
