Not a particularly revealing image, is it? We can see the scoop, and then lots of covers, truss trolley and a huge crane of some sort.

For goodness sake. Considering that model didn't exist in the last series I would say it is a pretty "revealing image" actually.

Also, you can see the tip of Starbug lurking in the background.

Really exciting to see the motion control camera, hopefully this means the model shots will be more successful this time (sounds like the right people are involved too). Do you think they'll recreate the ship fly-over for the new credits?

Looks rather splendid. Back in RDX I don't believe they had all the motion control cameras that they do this time round, which led to the model shoots looking like the camera was moving and Red Dwarf was not, rather than the other way round. This time it should look a lot more convincing.

And yes, you can *just* see Starbug in that shot. On the left hand side, halfway up, under the camera arm you can just see the side of it's back end.

Excellent, awesome model shots were part of what made Red Dwarf so great and we haven't really had any since Series VI.

Hopefully the Starbug shots are of an actual model moving and not the camera moving around it or CGI having it appear bigger on screen and smaller on screen to fake the effect of moving. Whatever way it was done, the single shot of Starbug in action in X was awful and looked really fake.

This has me rather excited, good to see them putting the money/time/tech behind the new stuff. The motion control makes a huge difference as, some of you already pointed out , it fools the viewer into thinking the ship is moving and not the camera.

    Good work!

If the camera movement thing is done correctly, you shouldn't be able to tell the difference, surely? It's mainly a clever trick with perspective, after all. Emphasis on 'done correctly'.

As for X, while some of the model work was a bit dodgy, the stuff involving the main ship itself looked fine to me. My only issue is that we didn't see more lingering panning shots!
