If you comment, please don't say who you ignored, or give people reason to speculate. The purpose of the thread isn't to start or continue arguments, so please post with that in mind.

The ability to "block" or "ignore" posters was requested more than once on the old forum. I'm just curious if anyone's now making use of it?

Nope. Nor will I ever. I don't think it's a feature that works well on forums, like it does on social media.

Having said that, Abe's comment the other day about people actually using the feature instead of complaining about what others are posting was spot on.

I must say, I find blocking immature by my own standards, but also not using it when it's there and you wanted it that much is just as much wasting everyone's time.

I have ignored three people on here. Is blocking the same thing as ignoring? Also what does it effect, your threads, their threads, everything? Can you still see threads they have started, and is there a big difference between the two. Also how do you block?

I agree with Abe that it is immature, but I personally find it more convenient and less tiresome in the long run, though it's not a decision I simply make at the drop of a hat. however I don't really have a problem of anyone doing it to me

I haven't blocked anyone, but would if I bitterly fell out with someone.

On the other hand... having never tried it, I'm not sure how it works. E.g., does it tell you there's a post but keep it out of sight? Like when a spoiler is collapsed, and you have to click to open it? If so, I'm not sure I could resist reading it, lol.

But if it made all their posts and posts quoting them simply vanish - and their threads, too - I would use it to avoid drama.

Yes I have. It makes their posts disappear entirely from threads. You don't get any spoiler option for each one, but down the bottom of the thread there's a little "Show Ignored Content" option. It's not like a giant flashing red button tempting you to push though. If you've got eagle-eyes you can tell there's an ignored post because the post numbering skips.

Including Tex Rimmer? That must have taken you a long time to ignore everyone. Did you just go through everyone that has ever made a post since a lot of people join and don't post .

I would never ignore my hero Tex. He is of course the exception. It took me weeks but I managed to ignore everyone
