Did anyone else here watch Norman's sitcom I, Lovett? It was pretty weird and surreal stuff, and I think they're all up on Youtube. I remember liking it at the time but I think I'd struggle to sit down and watch an episode now.

Don't remember that at all, was it just on YouTube, or TV?

It was on the BBC. The pilot came out in 1989 and the six-episode series in 1993. I watched it at the time but haven't seen it since.

This thread needs to be a Spiderman-free zone.

I've never heard of Chelmsford 123. I remember The Gaffer though.

Chelmsford 123 starred Rory McGrath and Jimmy mullville, a one time virtual double act, till they fell out

Yeah I remember I.Lovett, it was funny in a different kind of way, I doubt I would watch it again though. The Gaffer with Bill Maynard I have on DVD. Great old work humour

That seems like a pretty garbage rule to me. It would surely make more sense to decide on a show-by-show basis rather than apply such statements to every single one. Then again, who am I to question neil's blanket stereotypes?

I watched the pilot twice, but I never got to the rest of the series. It was quite funny, but nothing special or original. It had really WTF moments like the policeman and the dream with big flies. I wanted to see the rest, but then I started watching Brittas Empire, which was 100 % better.

Yes, the pilot was particularly weird with that dream sequence with the flies that you mentioned. I've still no idea what that was all about. It was a strange little series, a real curiosity, and I'd like to watch it all again sometime. Maybe this year.
