Don't be obtuse for the sake of being snide. Yeah and they were both in color too so there's that, huh? Didn't say OR imply they were identical now did I? What is every single Saw movie about? A group of people who have to do something. Right? Find the key to open the dynamite mask around head before the mouse eats through the release say. Right? O.K. What happens if they fail the task? Dynamite mask explodes. Is that the Saw movies we are talking about?
O.K. Willie Wonka. A group of people to have to do something. In this case resist temptations/urges but something nonetheless. What happens if they fail? Same as Saw. You don't see ANY points of similarity there? Willie is much less graphic about the consequences of failure but it WAS aimed at a much younger audience.

Kind of, at a very large stretch, I concede the point. The chicken torture porn is still way off though

No, you've gotten confused. The chicken slaughter porn was a seperate point on how messed up the film is, not comparing it to Saw.

The late sixties, seventies and early eighties were often slightly out of kilter, rarely more so than with culture aimed at children. I like the movie well enough but always thought the fates of the children who didn't make it through was a little macabre, especially as it appeared to be part of Wonka's plan all along. I also found it slightly odd that Wonka gave this surreal deathtrap to a more or less random little boy to govern, leprechauns and all.

I like that part of it. Children should be prepared for the hardships of life, without mindless mollycoddling, it did me no scrap of harm. I think the messed upness of it is part of what makes it a good movie

I get the chicken is seperate, I just meant I thought the description of it it calling it that was over exaggerated

I know I've seen Charlie & The Chocolate Factory, but I can't remember the chicken scene.

It was cut out of some versions. It's one of the images projected onto the tunnel walls in the creepy boat ride bit. It's pretty nasty.
