After watching Series XI, why does Rimmer even bother wanting copies of himself? It never ends well:

    1. Me2: Argues with himself which leads to one being deleted.
    2. Rimmerworld: Gets imprisoned by them.
    3. Officer Rimmer: Gets hunted to be devoured.

Krtyen asked him the same, he thought it would be fine if he was their superior, he was wrong.

I guess it can be compared to 'I'm never drinking again' when we have a bad hangover.

Exactly, and I think this is psychologically very plausible.

Previous "multi-Rimmer" episodes explored his self-loathing. I think it's typical that, when he became an officer, his first instinct was to get the bio-printer and finally be the boss of his own self.

It was quite civil at the start. But, if the Rimmer monster hadn't appeared, they could've taken the story in a different direction, and written a mashup of Meltdown and MeĀ².

In that case, original Rimmer - intoxicated with power - would become a brutal tyrant to his clones. Then we would see his self-loathing from the other perspective, with "our" Rimmer as self-tormentor, rather than self-tormentee.

    Because he's Rimmer.
