I said that about Rob Grant because I think I read somewhere that Doug had invited him back on board for series 13 - still it might have just been speculation though. I suppose I am speculating a lot because I am really hankering for more new Red Dwarf as it has been 3 years now since any new material is filmed. Still I suppose I better "calm down" and just enjoy what we do have which was my most recent Dwarfathon and the imminent replacement Blu-rays for series 3 and 5. Still though, the fact remains that the article the previous Friday about the curry meal meet up implies that something might not be too far in the future so hopefully it won't be as long as I think. It's a cliche but we'll just have to "wait and see" and enjoy the Dwarf we have at the moment for the time being.
You might be talking about the 30th-anniversary interview Doug did, otherwise id be interested to know where you heard that. In the 30th anniversary interview when asked about Rob, Doug speculated that Rob may possibly want to return to Red Dwarf in some capacity down the line. but also said that the subject never came up between them.
To be totally honest with you, I did read about an invitation from Doug to Rob in one media outlet's "Red Dwarf 13 commissioned" articles. I can't remember which one exactly. By the logic that those articles were wrong about the commission then really the invite to Rob is probably - and I hate to use this phrase - fake news too. I think when I mentioned the "invitation" I was combining that likely misinformed article with the official Doug 30th interview and using it as a form of wishful thinking that Rob might be back in the future. I do enjoy a good number of Doug-solo episodes and I personally found both series 11 and 12 to be excellent and the most genuinely Dwarfy Red Dwarf since series 6. But Rob and Doug co-writing again - the Lennon and McCartney of screen writing IMHO - would be probably even greater. I think the thing is now so much time has past that let's face it, it's unlikely to ever happen again is it? But yes ultimately I should not really have read too much into that article about the Rob "invitation" because the main thing in it about the "commission" last year was obviously "fake news."
Well, I was more thinking: Doug and Craig NEVER do Comic Cons and Robert and Norman will be attending too. It could mean Doug has an announcement to make.
I see your point. Interesting. We all know Red Dwarf XIII is (slowly) in the process, but I would be very glad to see official confirmation.
I ain't sure everyone doing going to comic-con is reason to announce a new series. that sounds like a huge thing just for an announcement that the cast won't be able to much much to anything about anyway.
Well that was coz you can just click on 'SHOW CONTENT' and I thought it's been a while so give it the benefit of doubt and look. Simples really !
