*Adds to chorus* They do seem nice.
There's a commentary for the episode The Beginning up now. I've had a brief listen and it seems mostly silence punctuated by Heath and Angela's occasional laughter. I'm going to have a proper listen in a short while.
Yeah, it's really hard to talk while watching. LOL. Such a great ep. We were entranced. (Minor spoiler, but did anyone think we were going to hate it?)
No, of all the series X episodes, I thought this was the one you would like best.
I also liked your reaction to Doug almost explaining what happened at the end of series 8. I was wondering if that moment would have the same impact on you two as it did on those of us who have been waiting over a decade for an explanation.
Thanks to your singing theme song sync up I listened to the Introcast in one earphone and the episode in the other. Lots of laughs and cat reaction too! Lol
I haven't listened to that episode yet, but I kind of expected you both to like it, especially given the especially prominent sci-fi element.
It's actually really difficult for me to do commentaries. First off, when we're recording, we have headphones on so we can hear the episode, so we can't really heard each other or ourselves so well. Then I try to say something clever, but by then one of the characters is talking, so I want to hear what they're saying. By the end I just hope I haven't made a bit twit of myself. Hopefully it wasn't too much of a secondary laugh track.
On the one hand, I think it's pretty interesting hearing your reactions to certain moments (Holly's return, particularly). But yeah, on the other I think there's something inherently flawed in doing a commentary for something you haven't seen yet. You don't want to be talking over it, you want to be watching it! If you pass comment on something you've just seen there's a real danger you're going to miss what's said next. Also, you haven't had a chance to collect your thoughts on something and really discuss it.
(What I'd maybe have suggested doing, in retrospect, is recording yourselves watching certain eps, then if any good moments of reaction resulted, clipping them out and playing them in to the main 'casts!)
But hey ho - I don't think they were especially problematic, as it's not like you were treating them as full-on episodes!
Doing commentaries NOW as a "second watch" could be a more interesting experience tbh.
Hi Angela, hi Heath, I'm "other" Paul the F1 guy btw. *outs self*
I'm looking forward to hearing what Heath and Angela made of the novels.
I'd also like to hear a special episode discussing the remastering.
I've just noticed the Introcast for The Beginning is now up. Might give it a listen before bed.
Hope you're fine with a late bedtime.
Currently listening to it now on my lunch break...
Something that's occurred to me: Have Heath and Angela listened to the Dave Hollins: Space Cadet sketches? They're something Red Dwarf-related that I think they might like.
I'm sure they have come across them on their research.
There's a Bodysnacher Introcast up now. Anyone listened to it yet?
I'm still a bit behind but plan on listening to an ep or two on Sunday. It's good to see a new one has been put up too
It's only an hour long too. I should be able to listen to it on the walk into work.
I'll probably give it a listen tonight.
I finally got round to listening to the Infinity Introcast.
I was surprised that they didn't think much of the gazpacho soup story in the book and preferred the TV version. I always thought it worked much better in the novel.
