You were the one invited up from the audience to help out, weren't you?

Wasn't Kochanski temporarily being played by Ainsley Harriott?

    Ah, I see.

Common mistake to make. You book one, the other shows up.

Starbug looks a bit different - has anyone else noticed? They didn't get the legs right.

Richard naylor has just said on twitter thats no broadcast dates have been set yet and january 2017 probably isn't likely for Series XII

Yeah that makes sense. I've noticed that a lot of the most popular shows tend to air around Sept/October, or sometimes around Feb/March.

Recording just finished. Waiting for my uber at pinewood. Ensemble episode. Another ship involved. Cat stole the show. Reminded me most of Series IV with a touch of Series VIII in there too! More when I get home.

Okay back home so dont need to write on my phone anymore!

The warm up guy was Ray Peacock and I had heard he was good. He was genuinely funny at points. Waned a little toward the end, but so would anyone after 4 hours! It overran by about 45 mins - 1 hour, but I didn't complain as its more Dwarf!

    Some non-spoilery points

    - The episode did not centre on one particular crew member, they all seemed to have equal billing. I do believe Cat was a standout for me though. He often gets the funniest lines, but he really produced some classic lines tonight.

    - For me, the episode reminded me most of Series IV and parts of VIII (Promise its not as bad as it sounds and its just my opinion). There were also callbacks to Series II and III moments.

    - Costumes looked same as the previous episode I saw, but Rimmer looked much better for some reason. Can't place why he looked better in this one, but to my eyes he did! Possibly the hair?

    - We see Starbug.

    - We see the medical/drive room

    - We see another ship

    - There are two main guest stars.

    - There is some great bunk action between Lister and Rimmer, with dialogue that wouldnt seem out of place in I and II.

    - There were some real belly-laugh Smeg Ups but they were tighter than they were in episode 3 I think.

I'm going to do a mini podcast episode about this and slot it in before crimbo.

I'm really lucky to see two episodes of my fave show ever being filmed, I'm still buzzing from the first one, never mind tonight!

Alex, based on the set reports on Gazpacho Soup, it sounds like series XI is shaping itself to be a darker batch of episodes then the ones seen in series X......without spoiling anything, would you say that is a fair assessment?

I don't think dark is necessarily the right word. They occasionally may have dark moments or ideas, but I wouldn't be expecting a series of eps all like Demons and Angels. Adventurous might be a better description, in the way IV-VI saw a lot more going to places and investigating a thing.

Hopefully its a step up from entangled in terms of adventurous

i always entangled was ambition but fell flat the moment they brought the monkey on red dwarf because it felt like the idea of why they were doing it was forgotten about while they were throwing a new element into the plot

Also it sounds like doug is referencing past episodes quite abit in this new series and i ain't totally sure why he feels the need to do that

As long as he doesn't overdo it in the way he did in Back in the Red, I don't mind a odd continuity nod here and there if it serves a purpose that benefits the episode.
