I would be hugely surprised if Holly was going to be in it.

I wonder though if the last couple scenes will work as a lead in to something that's going to happen in series XII!

It's more likely Kochanski would come back I reckon!

surely whatever it would be would be given away at the start of filming XII though with the audience, unless there is no direct connection

Something else I noticed was that off to the side of that photo you can see the back of another set that says "Starbug Upper Deck" this suggests there is more to that Starbug set then just the cockpit we see here!

I am fine with the new starbug look but if I had one nitpick about It from the picture it would be the door at the back looks a little submarine like where I can imagine it being shut most the time if not all the time so we don't see behind it

My guess is that it's a choice made so that if they don't need the mid section for an episode it's easily detachable to make room for other sets.

Yeah I dunno what WIP is either. I wonder if they got the model team or whatever they are called to make a new Red Dwarf. I would love if they were able to make the motion control shot they were going for with X to make the end credits ship crawl

New Starbug model? Presumably this is for the model shots to make it look more realistic on screen and they aren't going to redesign the whole thing like they have with the interior?

More surprised by the news of a new RD, I quite like the RDX model.

I just really hope they keep the design faithful, hopefully it's just something like building a more robust version (since the other model was built in 1989 and so is pretty damn old), or having various details added in physically rather the painted on like the original so that it looks better in HD.

As he uses the phrase 'bigagture' I think think they might still be using the RDX model for distance shots. I think the bigature might just be used for close ups, being a larger model with more detail.

I thought originally it might just be a model of part of the ship (which might still be true) but apparently 'bigature' just means 'large minature model', so it could indeed be the entire thing. But with limited space, I think they might still make use of the other model. I hope so anyway, it was rather nice.

I also hope they keep Starbug to same design, although fold up stanchions when flying (as shown in two or three of the later series, but not Series X) would be nice.

If you recall series X used a bigature Red Dwarf for various close ups aswell, my guess is that they wanna make a far more extensive bigature for more ambitious close ups this season.

Going back to this episode's recording being cut short, I wonder if there's a big hush-hush cliffhanger, perhaps to be recorded in the take up week(s) to ensure no leaks. You could write the first ep of series XII in such a way as not to reveal it to the audience... :?

This does explain why a few days ago Richard Naylor tweeted

I imagine starbug will look the same, bit surprised they are making a new one though, unless it's not a new starbug per say but a couple of things for close up shots maybe
