Rick and Morty

    Do we have any Rick and Morty fans? I've been watching it recently on Netflix and I'm a big fan.

    It's about a mad scientist and his grandson who go on several adventures across time and space.

    It has a LOT of Red Dwarf style plots, from the more general space exploration and dimension hopping, creating several different versions of the main characters, to talking kitchen appliances and planting false memories in people's minds.

    It also has some VERY similar plot devices such as bodyswaps, a better than life type game and drunk Rick making a video for sober Rick (amongst others in fairness).

    Doofus Rick (A version of him from another dimension) also shares a physical resemblance with Dwayne Dibbley.

    I wonder if these are all coincidences or are the creators fans of the show?

    Yes I really like it as well. I been watching since the first season, the wait in between is brutal. But yes I am a big fan of them. I really like the interdimensional Cable episodes since its just one of the creators Justin Roland in a booth saying whatever comes to mind and they animate to it.

    Also really like the show community which is another one by the other creator Dan Harmon.

    Rick and Morty is excellent. As is Community. I have the privilege of having Shirley from Community follow me on Twitter. But then again, so is Kerry Katona.

    You can't win them all.

    Rick and Morty kinda bothers me. I'm still going to give it a watch, but the main community for the show is really obnoxious and Pickle Rick is the dumbest catchphrase anybody's ever picked up.

    That said, from what I can tell it's mostly a good show on its own.

    I enjoy watching Rick and Morty. Reminds me very much of Red Dwarf except more dark and crude.

    I like Rick and Morty because of how it takes common science fiction themes to their ultimate conclusions. This is especially obvious in the 'infinite versions' interpretation of quantum theory. When other science fiction shows make it obvious there are infinite versions of their universes in which every possibility is played out (an infinite number of times), I lose interest a bit in the stakes for the characters I've been watching. It doesn't seen important how our version of the Stargate team or Enterprise crew succeed when infinite versions of them have failed and all died horrible deaths, and infinite other versions have succeeded in various ways. Rick and Morty tackle these things head on.
