Going to attempt a classic 'captain emerald' Rimmer for a 90s party and wondered if anyone had done anything similar before, with any tips etc?

Of course it would also just be interesting to see photos of anyone in costume...

I did, in fact, dress up as the Rimmer from Gunmen one time. The only real tip I can give you is not to use weak tape and letter paper to create the H. That lasted me all of about five minutes. Otherwise, I think that's about all we've got to offer. Do let us know how it goes, though.

It is very American. One of many "Americanisations" infecting the English language!!! I'm fuming.

Ah, yes, Japanese, the quintessential American language!

Adopted by America comic conventions. Do some research if your google engine stretches that far...

I understand disliking the word - I can't stand it either - but I suggest you only blame America for the things America actually did and leave this to annoying fans who speak English anywhere.

We did already have a legitimate term in the UK already: fancy dress.

Cue someone informing me of the differences. Heh. (I'm aware cosplay is a very specific form of fancy dress but its essentially the same thing, as far as I can gather.)

"fancy dress" sounds a bit twee and outdated though

most people call it cosplay now, which is a much better term imo and either way it's probably easier to just call it what everyone else calls it
