Series 7: gets better with repeated viewing.
Series 8: gets worse with repeated viewing.
Do you think we can T-shirts with this on? Seem to say it often enough it would be fun to be able to just point to the shirt and have done with it.
I think all the series are great! It's interesting to see the show evolve! The dvd's with the cast commentaries are fantastic. If you had to watch the crap we have here in the USA you would shoot yourself. Examples, Jersey Shore, Jersey House Wives. Thank the stars for BBC America! The last good Sic-Fi was Battle Star Galactica. I looking forward to series 10.
I still like series 8 and continue to like it. THERE! I said it!
Though they're my two least fave (relatively speaking) series of RD, the way I look at them is that 7 really didn't manage to continue in the same vein as previous series, and 8 was the valiant attempt to bring it back on line.
I'm going to stick my head above the parapet and say that, by 9, they had achieved that goal, but I know that's probably going to open up a whole new can of worms, and in the wrong thread, too
I think part of 7's problem might have been that it opened with the strongest story (certainly the most intriguing concept!), AND it WAS rather more similar to previous series. It took a nose dive when the cast line-up changed so dramatically, so we poor fans didn't know WHAT we were getting hit with.
Just my blithering thoughts on the matter!
Oh yay, you lovely lovely man. I cant understand why people dont like 8, but at least someone else stands up for it.
8 is my 3rd favourite season! :P
I like 8, found many episodes in it very hysterical.
I have been bequeathed 7 & 8 & might give them another go, or consign them to the charity shop. . .
Even if you don't like the eps, keep them for the cast commentaries
Series 1 - BTE are all awesome in that respect
Did series 7 have a laugh track when originally broadcast? The ones I'm watching don't. it feels so flat!
The extended ones don't.
The originals do. So, toggle your DVD a bit and, if you want laughter, enjoy the normal non-extended versions
Finished series 7.
Awful, like a cartoon version of the show made by fanboys rather than proper writers.
I have taken it & the unwatched series 8 to my local charity shop.
May some poor soul find it.
At least the money will be going to a good cause.
Do you not even like the commentaries? I must say i'm no big fan of 7 and 8 but still watch them a lot of the time with commentaries on. They are really good.
You'd surely like the series 8 commentary if nothing else. Norm is a right negative, miserable, moaning old git too
I laughed so much when they are eating dinner and they are all like 'dinners good krytes' and pretending they like it and then cat throws his knife and fork down and goes 'are we eating the same stuff?'
I recently rewatched series VII and VIII. I'm still not keen on the style of VII, but I like it overall. Series VIII, is, in my opinion... and yes, you may think me mad, a return to form. Honestly, I'd only watched it once before, so it was still quite fresh... and I laughed my head off consistantly for every single episode. Really liked it.
It goes to show, I'd put off rewatching it coz I'd convinced myself it was terrible, coz thats the accepted opinion. But after giving it a chance... I realise its actually brilliant. Not quite series V or VI... but still, a mile above any other sitcom I've seen.
Yeah, hilarious! Like something out of The Beano!! :x
*wonders if simulant37 took his forum name directly from this*
:x ... No offence intended. Had to be posted sooner or later though. :P
Shame on you.
A low blow.
& I thought we were friends. . .
