I wouldn't say BtE is Series IX. It is the ninth series though. "Isn't that the same thing?" you may ask. No doubt I'm splitting hairs, but what I'm referring to here is the title of the series which is, Back To Earth. Either way, being the ninth series (and three episodes, while really a mini-series as we count this, is still a series in the literal meaning of the word, more than 2), it follows that the tenth series is Series X.

Of course I'd consider the Director's Cut of BtE as the true version... and that's one long episode... but it's still in ninth place.

On the other hand, it's just titles, and one is good as another depending on how you'd like to interpret things. What does it matter?:-D

True, and yeah it doesn't matter really. It will confuse some newer fans through, especially those who only see BTE as a one-off episode (as i'm sure most of us do now, and of which i assume is the only way it will ever be repeated on tv from now on, at least i can't see why they would ever wish to revert back to the individual parts, unless it's for some borish commissionary reason or whatever) But yeah, technically it was indeed originally the ninth series, albeit a very short one..:-) It'll always be one stand alone episode to me through :-)

Although, technically, it is Season X, not series....Doug referred to it as a Season on Twitter a few weeks ago. So I would say that there is "Series I-VIII", "Back To Earth 2009 Easter special" and "Season X-tbc"

Yes, I'm stirring it for the sake of it....I don't really believe this

Season doesn't make sense. I'd be expecting a change in weather patterns, or a sprinkling of salt and pepper...

I did hear that, although there is only 6 episodes, they are going to broadcast in slow motion so as to fill the whole Season of Autumn. It kinda makes sense that way....Can't wait!

    Series II
    Series III
    Series IV
    Series V
    Series VI
    Series VII
    Series VIII
    Series IX (Fictional)
    Series ten (Fictional)
    Back to Earth
    Series X

Basically, although I'd ignore the fictional 9 and 10 since we don't see them.

It doesn't matter how many times we go over this, the issue will never be put to bed. I bet you someone else will ask again within a month.:-D And, I'm with mophead. Including the 'fictional' series is just confusing.

    Series III
    Series IV
    Series V
Season Five (Here takes place the fight with the pan-dimensional liquid beast from the Mogadon cluster and the fight with the Vidal Beast of Sharmutt II)
    Series VI
    Series VII
    Series VIII
Season Nine (Best season ever if you ask me)
Season Ten (Lister potters about depressed)

I would make the following changes. On Twitter, Doug used the word "Season" to describe RDX. So for me, it would have to be...

    Series I
    Series II
    Series III
    Series IV
    Series V
    Series VI
    Series VII
    Series VIII
Season Nine (Does not actually exist in this reality)
Season Ten (Does not actually exist in this reality)
Back To Earth 2009 Easter Special (later to be referred to as Series IX)
    Season X
    Season XI

I'm confused, can't we just have:

    series 1
    series 2
    series 3
    series 4
    series 5
    series 6
    series 7
    series 8
    BTE
    series X

Why can't everyone just say it is whatever they think it is and leave it at that, no more threads about it or anything. I don't care if they say it's X,7,1,3,5,8,BTE,9(fictional),2,4,10(fictional),6,42(hasn't even been thought of yet), just keep it to themselves.

Where are you sourcing this running order from....?

But this is important. It must be for it to keep arising on the forum like this.... Okay. I'm running away now....
