Ok, so what sort of times are people arriving at Shep? Don't wanna be too early and look like a pleb, but I also don't wanna leave it too late and be right at the back of the line.

Personally, the website failing down and the update by Twitter (genius) all added to the excitement! I applied just like everyone here, watched a frozen screen for 15 minutes in panic I can tell you, and then try and type at 200 words per second to send the mail to them! It just comes down to the luck of the draw in the end, which I think is the fairest way.

I don't think anyone should feel left out or upset by the website jut being overloaded. Firstly it just shows that Red Dwarf is still massive, and second there are always ways to get a ticket, competition prize, Fan Club if we get any spare, and of course Ebay.
Massive thanks to Lost In TV for keeping cool under so much pressure.

I tried to apply, couldn't get through and ended up on the waiting list. I got my message today to confirm what I already knew "...you have not been successful, but if any more should become available...." etc...

Yes, it's upsetting. But I do wish all of those who have been successful the best of luck....and at least I've got a new series of Red Dwarf to look forward to next year.

The Ganymede, sorry, Shepperton Holiday Inn had some good deals going when I checked earlier.

Shepperton is roughly the same distance I am from Heathrow...so staying in a hotel would be overkill for me. I don't really fancy having to go into London, I could easily just head in a straight line north and will more than likely hit my house. I could even cycle it in theory!

Was thinking I hadn't had an email but then I sa I had one... telling me I didn't get in. Wonder if I should have picked a different date. Oh well, waited so long for the chance to see Red Dwarf being filmed only to miss out which I didn't forsee happening - didn't forsee this demand. But for all people who got in, congratulations!

If anyone has a spare going, I'll gladly take it haha (as long as it's after 4th January when I get back from America)

Doug did Tweet that the studio holds around 300 to 350 people for each show, this would give a total of around 2000 or more in total. Not very many when you consider that millions watch the show, and way above what it would do to crash a site using it at one time.
I would be very interested to see what figures Lost in TV had for last Friday at 2pm. Check that server now!

I had a rejection email, after spend an hour running around with my phone trying to get 3g and onto the site. I'm alittle ticked if I'm honest. Been told I've been put on a waiting list, I imagined that's for cancellations but I doubt anyone will cancel them (wiether they plan to use them or not.

Guess I'll just have to wait an see. :?

Well, i didn't manage to get tickets for the date i asked for, but was offered Dec 23rd instead, of which i'm very thankful for. There's a chance it's just coincidence, but it would certainly appear that Seb was right to suggest going for the 23rd Dec, as i've spoken to a fair few other people who have been realocated this date also.

I can certainly appreciate the element of luck here, as well as individual circumstancing deeming it literally impossible for the system to be fair for everyone. Which is not the fault of anyone inparticular, it's just the way things tend to function. I know all too well what it's like to miss out on things that meant so much to me. I could give a long list of the free concerts i've missed out on over the years, often because i didn't have a laptop, and the ticket system was not compatable with my phone. And/or the late notice, and the psysical inability to be in the right place at the right time. [Edit]; or, like what just happened when trying to edit this smeggin post, continuous loss of connection, Doh. So i do sympathize with those who didn't manage to get tickets.

I have a strong feeling this will not be the last opportunity for peeps to see future recordings though. Although i appreciate that isn't very helpful at this time. But seriously, the show is obviously still very popular to be at a level where they could've sold out each night "many times over". Which can surly only bode well for the future of the show...it's all down to Doug and the dwarfers now...well, and viewing figures of course....speaking of which, do that system still work by having a portion of people having little boxes fixed to their tv's?. And if so, how many people actually have those things fitted?. I realise i may be completely missing something here, it's not a specialist subject of mine, but that system never seemed a very accurate way to judge viewing figures to me.

The main thing that does bug me if there is another chance, chances are their people will try and apply again, despite seeing the show this time round. Thus giving me the same amount of chance of getting tickets next time.

ALSO September is along way away.

Am the only one who hasn't received an email back about if I got tickets or not? I've been checking my emails all day and nothing: (

Bit cross to hear people were offered alternate dates when I was turned down. I went for the 16th and my other half 23rd (managed to get on the website funnily enough!) and got neither, just on the waiting list...

Same here, although it's not down to the people that were offered the alternate dates, Good luck to them, but the organisers of the ticket distro. I got onto the website after a little waiting around (about 2.20) but failed to get tickets even though all dates were available on the site i still only got offered the waiting list. Series 11 maybe different.:crying:

I hope everyone that goes has a great time.

I'm going on the 27th Jan, so hopefully by then a lot of you will have been and i'll get a good idea of when to turn up.

My travel plans from Glasgow are to get the train which gets into London around 1pm, check into the hotel then decide what time to head to Shepperton. The train from London to Shepperton takes around an hour, so hopefully turning up at the studios around 4 ish will be early enough!!

That actually sounds good to me, I remember the last time I went to Shepperton (back in 93) for the taping of Rimmerworld we had got there at quite a good time for that, and ever since being on tenterhooks about the email coming back I've tried to remember time frames etc, even got to reading Kev F Sutherlands article in the Red Dwarf magazine in which he says:

"And we arrived a good 45 minutes early."

Needless to say he didnt get a seat and had to sit on the steps. So 4ish seems a decent enough time to be there.

I have to admit, I am a tad disappointed but always knew there would be a huge demand.

Given the number of hits on the main page on Fridays and the fact that Doug had pre-announced the ‘news’ on Twitter the day before, it was always going to be difficult.

At one point I thought I was in with a shout having seemingly placed my request on their site prior to the main flush of advice to email the site and then receiving a confirmation email, but it wasn’t to be.

Clearly, someone, somewhere, underestimated the popularity of Dwarf (and not for the 1st time) but it was always going to be a game of luck and I think ‘anger’ is an emotion too far.
