    Hiya,

I guess this is mainly directed at Andrew (the admin). Has there been any recent discussion about what might happen after the specials? Does it largely depend on how many people watch them and buy the DVD? Is it possible Dave would commission an entire series?

    Thanks

I'm hoping that later this year Dave will commission the first ever Red Dwarf Christmas special.

Of course one thing at a time, although the specials certainly bring hope of a new series:-D

Here's a question. What would people regard as being 'good' viewing figures for the specials, given that the show has now moved to Dave?

With Dave being a digital channel, I don't believe it's broken the million barrier. So 'good' would probably be around 600-800k and brilliant would be breaking a mil and setting a new Dave record!

It's definately got a chance of breaking the 1 Million barrier considering that Dave is available on freeview and nearly everyone has got either a Digital or a Freeview Box these day's.

Considering all the interest and publicity the new episodes have generated, and the fact that Red Dwarf repeats have been getting good viewing figures on Dave, I would be surprised if they failed to break the all-time record for the channel.

Hopefully those most likely highest ever viewing figures for the Back To Earth Specials will convince Dave to commission a Series IX!:-D
We can only sit back and hope, although I have a good feeling about this.........

Yeah, I would hope the first special gets at least a million viewers. I'd be disappointed if it didn't beat that and break Dave's record.

And thanks for the deletion Andrew.

It de[pends on the advertising. If they get cross-channel advertising it could be seriously big. If the only TV ads for it are on Dave itself the audience share will be much smaller.

I'm really looking forward to seeing the trailers!

I wonder whether this will be the first to show to make use of the Facebook/Youtube/Twitter/Internet word-of-mouth advertising that gets through to a certain generation of people outside of the tv advert medium?

I wonder if there's gonna be any billboard advertising for them...everyone in the street must know about the return!!

According what Robert Llewellyn in this interview fom August last year, from what he was told the Back To Earth specials were being made to open the door for another series..............

Time will tell if this actually comes to fruition.
