I was pretty smashed on new years eve. New years day was a blur of recovery.

The Mrs said there was an Inbetweeners special programme on. But as I was wrecked I didn't mind missing it. Could always catch up. Always liked it to honest (the second film not so much).

Anyway I woke to read of this backlash and the likes of James Buckley apologising for what was televised the night before.

The critics were aghast and slated it totally.

Anyway, I decided to give it a body swerve and didn't bother watching it. Tonight, I thought "Why not?" and have just finished watching it.

I was kind of dreading it. To be fair, it was a bit cheesy, but on the whole it made me belly laugh a few times. There was nothing majorly wrong with it. Enjoyable light entertainment.

    Why the hate?

    Then it hit me.

It's the 10th anniversary of a programme about young male adults saying rude words and trying to get women to go to bed with them.

In this day and age of the leftist agendas which have ruined Star Wars, Doctor Who and given us the likes of Star Trek Discovery, liking a series such as The Inbetweeners is all too unfashionable.

Hence the backlash from the critics. They can't praise the likes of The Inbetweeners anymore because it doesn't suit the agenda. The agenda that if they cross, they'll be out in the cold.

    And it bloody well sucks!

    And...

'Toxic fandom' is the word they are using.

For me, Doctor Who series 11 was awful. A pathetic Doctor, unengaging companions, dull stories, boring baddies and primary school level dialogue.

Nowadays, for the above, I'd be accused of being sexist, racist and toxic. Of which I am none. The companions need to be called 'fam' or 'best friends' nowadays. It's mind boggling what's going on.

I don't care about the gender, colour or sexual orientation of the characters in Who. I just want a good Doctor with likable, interesting companions and great, scary, dramatic stories. Like it used to be.

Bah. It's so bloody annoying. At least we have the likes of Cobra Kai and Orville which gets it right every time and ignores the agenda!

    Rant mode indeed.

I'd be shocked if I was accused of sexism, racism and toxicity. TV having a left wing agenda, surely not?????

I agree it wasn’t as bad as people made out, it was what I expected it to be. I think you’ve gone a *bit* David Icke with your explanation there.

Why was it cringeworthy though Ant, what specifically made you cringe, and how politically biased was it either way?

Head behind the scenes of one of Britain’s best-loved sitcoms with this Only Fools and Horses Bus Tour for Two. Starting from central Bristol, a coach will take you to some of the show’s most iconic exterior locations, including Nelson Mandela House, The Nags Head and Sid’s Café.
Leading you through will be your trusty guide, also a fan of the show, who’ll be letting you in on little-known secrets of the show’s filming, the characters, and John Sullivan’s fantastic script. A cushty day out for any fans of this iconic British show.
