This is a difficult one for me since my opinion changes so often, but series 6 and 8's positions are likely to remain static.

    6 5 7 1 2 3 4 8

5, 1, 6, 3, 8, 4, 2, 7. Subject to change due to mood. Series 8 I thought was a hilarious series, how come everyone seems to put it last? I agree the story didnt go in the direction I wanted it to go in but you cannot say it wasnt funny which is the most important thing for me followed by the micro stories.

    Tough decision this:

    3 - 5 - 6 - 2 - 4 - 1 - 7 - 8

Not sure where Back to Earth would slot in, have to wait until June 15th when the DVD is out to decide on that. Overall I wouldn't say any of them were bad, but series 7 was a bit weak on the laughs and while 8 was stronger on that front, it seemed to be less enjoyable on repeat viewings and lacked the stories to try and back up, which is why 7 ranked higher. Trying to order 5 through 1 was difficult though, and if I was to look at this again at 2 o'clock it would probably be different.

What a coincidence! Just the thing I wanted to come here and write about as my first posts. Or, more specifically, to claim that seson V is the very best. Clearly. I'm pleased to see that so many others agree, or at least puts it high up. You others... are wrong ;-)
And season VIII is quite clearly amongst the "worst". My list, I think, is as follows:

    5, 6, 4, 3, 2, 7, 1, BTE, 8

Season V has just one semi-weak episode in Deamons and Angels, the others are gems. We got good production values, pace and great scripts and dialouge. Everything is there. They are on the Dwarf, use Starbug and have Hollie. Only thing we miss is "original" Hollie. I don't think the Red Dwarf crew as a whole is needed in the show, or even suitable.

    Series 5 is very popular.

I wonder if there's anyone out there who would place series 7 or 8 in first position.

A few people in this thread have actually placed 7 quite high.
