Okay, it's a list. But I like lists. Lists are good.

Anyway, as true Dwarfers, post your series order (the order you rank each series from fave to least fave basically). I'm interested as i've never seen it on a Red Dwarf forum although I have seen it on other forums...

    So, mine is as follows:

    Series 2
    Series 1
    Series 4
    Series 5
    Series 3
    Series 6
    Series 7
    Back to Earth
    Series 8

    :-)

    Ugh lists! ;-)
I'll have a think about it... at some point! JMC2000 loves a list. So much so, that when we're in chat, I wonder what I've done to deserve it!

And yes, for those who pay close attention, after my interview, i realised that in fact i no longer see series 7 as my least favourite (the reason i gave was almost completely because of the Lack of Rimmer...i wish i'd had time to changed that projected answer really) I genuinely feel it's a very underated series.

Not that I think the first two series are funnier than s6, but I find them more charming with their simplicity and bleakness.

For some reason series 7 just doesn't do it for me like it used to :?

This is hard, but I have come up with...

    5, 2, 4, 1, 6, 3, 8, 7, BTE

(Note: I have already swapped 7 and BTE around 3 times... So you could imagine them circling each other constantly. A bit like Rimmer not wanting to be at the front or the back of the line :-) )

I've probably watched them all five or six times since then, plus random episodes here and there. So, what's changed?

    1-2-4-3-5-8-6-7-BTE

    At the moment, of course.;-)

My appreciation for series 7 has increased, as has my appreciation for series 8. Repeated viewing of BTE simply makes me less interested in it. It's a pity to see series 6 drop a little down my ratings, but I find it has as many misses as hits. The situation comedy style of the first two series still gives me a thrill when viewing them but I appreciate that, had the show not evolved and a third series had been made in the style of the first two, we'd probably be here now answering what our orders are of the three Red Dwarf series.

I think Starbug in Series 7 genuinely is actually Tardis like in that it's bigger on the inside than the outside. While they did make an attempt to suggest the larger dimensions by having smaller windows in the cockpit area, don't they state in episode one that the cargo area has expanded by 400 times, or something like that.* I had a vision in my head of the cockpit like a football and a massive mountain cargo section behind, although they don't state the rest of the ship wasn't affected. Either way, it should have looked different. I figured the change must be just internal perhaps stored in another dimension, like the Tardis explanation.

I agree it wasn't a great idea though. Duct Soup and Tikka To Ride seemed to be the only episodes that made use of the idea, and those scenarios could have been carried out elsewhere in both cases if at all. I got the impression it was mainly just an excuse to show off that area with the huge turbine in Tikka To Ride. Granted, it was a great location, but it didn't really serve the story at all. They could have shown flooding in a much smaller cargo hold. Come to think of it they showed a different cargo area in the extra scene at the end of the extended cut. THAT was larger than what we've seen before as well, but I think it was more believable.

*Actually 400 could be way off, but it was a massive amount.
