I liked it. His Clarkson impression wasn't that great... but that's all part of the humour surely? It was great to see around the new car anyway.

I hope we see it fly!

Some of Chris' impressions are spot on (such as his Tony Hawks); others aren't so accurate. Robert used to do a brilliant Jeremy Clarkson impression on I, Camcorder.

    Why's Carbug a left-hand drive?

I wondered at that too. Something to do with Smart cars and imports I'd imagine.

Gotta love the extra wheel on the right. The hi-tech which looks suspiciously like a kiddies steering wheel. Hee, hee!

The first Smart cars were German imports. I had a test drive in one about 4 years ago. Fun to dive and very easy to navigate the semi-automatic gearbox. Nothing like Starbug 1.

I don't really know much about smart cars so I went to the website recently.

I was particularly curious about the name. I was curious if there was some automation (not as far as driving you home, I don't mean.) It turned out to be... well just a small car really. Albeit rather nice looking and fairly well built.

Obviously the site were addressing potential customers so they're going to put a positive spin on it, but it was an interesting (if cheesy) read through. Only 2 doors is a bit rubbish though.

Apparently they have a diesel a petrol and (limited) electric varieties! And quite a large boot space. (I'd imagine that's where the back passengers in carbug were situated.

We call it a 'shoppingcar', easy to park near the supermarket by housewives.

I thought perhaps they wanted to get an old right hand drive smart of a scrapheap and splice the steering parts over from that to make the car look symmetrical, it would i assume be easier to get hold of a scrap right hand scrap smart than it would have been. if they had bought a working right hand drive and tried to attach a matching steering column from a left hand one.

obviously they didn't do that as it has a kids wheel, but maybe that's the outcome of my theory not working

I was blow away by Chris Barries impression of Lister, Kryten and The Cat in the Identity Within sketch ep.
But yeh i think he could have done better in this Jeremy Clarkson vid.

Chris is doing 'Clarkson-style', rather than Clarkson specifically. That was the intention anyway - we wanted people to still know it was Chris, since he's a confirmed petrolhead himself.

I love what he does with it. But I would, since I wrote it...

Starbug has steering controls on both sides, doesn't it?

Starbug was right hand drive in Series 3 and left hand drive thereafter.

I think the series 6 Starbug has controls on both sides. There's certainly one on the right. For example Cat is steering the ship while sat in the right seat during Out of Time's reality bubbles sequence.

Cat's the co-pilot, though. The lead flyer takes the main control - so while there are two, priority is given to Lister's.

How come during the "Change-over / peanuts" scene, they where using Cat's seat, despite it being one pilot only? :P

Cat prefers his own chair to the fetid, sweaty, grease-stained one Lister sits in.
