One thing I've always wondered about Red Dwarf. After Lister was informed of of the radiation leak and the location of the ship, why didn't he go back into status for the 3 million year journey home??! Was this ever explained the show or novels?

Behind you!!! Ha Ha made you look!
He was going to go back into stasis untill Future Echoes, once he had seen himself as an old man still on board the ship he then realised that he didnt go back into stasis and so he decided not to!

Don't you know better than to ask about the show's plot holes and inplausibilities on here? You'll only get told to stop taking it so seriously.

Yes, Lister's always been really responsible about not screwing with time!

this wasn't really clear in the shows and confused me too. the books explained it tho... future echoes and all.

don't mind Billy C... you only get people telling you to lighten up if you ask how Lister managed to see himself as an old man on the Red Dwarf ship... when the ship clearly got destroyed and re-build and destroyed again....

But you can - In Tikka to Ride, the crew were able to permanently alter history - and undo their mistakes. And Timeslides allowed history and destiny to be changed for Lister and for Rimmer, somehow, to become alive.

Yes yes... that was some kind of destiny changing... I like Kochanski's explanation you have power to change destiny if you bellieve you can... but that wasn't proven theory

Ok I re-watched Future Echoes, and yes Lister was going back into status but then decided not to (as he learns he's going to have children on board Red Dwarf).

    My curiosity is satisfied.
