Cat's Blue Midget dance? I noticed reading the forum that people really hate this, why is this? I thought it was a nice moment for DJJ to shine in the show.

It's a horrible, ill-judged piece of self-indulgence and the only moment from any episode that I find embarrassing and uncomfortable to watch. That part with the Blue Midget playing air guitar makes me cringe just thinking about it.

I think it's the fact it's incredibly cheesy and a bit of a departure from the kind of humour Red Dwarf is known for. (At least in most peoples minds. In actual fact there have been other cheesy moments in the past. I found myself groaning at Lister's rendition of the 'Red Dwarf Shuffle' much more so than the Blue Midget dance. I loved Toungue Tied though.)

It didn't bother me though. I rather enjoyed it as well, cheese and all, although the knowledge it was a dream helped.

Could be. Maybe it would have been better for a Comic Relief special (I always find it strange they never did one). I liked it as a moment for Danny/Cat in a way, because he often had so few scenes. Especially after hearing about the effort he went through in doing it.

I like it, especially the air guitar
One thing I dislike that most people seem to enjoy is the shrinking boxers. Yuk

I suppose if Red Dwarf was a musical it would fit in but it's not or nor should it try to be. The sequence's ok but I prefer the Tongue tied ditty TBH. :P

The first couple of paragraphs of Wikipedia's Pete synopsis explain what happened.

But the Blue Midget dance was a hallucination. Cat's hallucination. It should have been over the top, because Cat is.

As for the basketball game, I guess someone had a good idea for a gag and they had to make up a situation for it. I laughed, but I'm horribly unsophisticated.
