    Just read @Ant the Dragon 's book "Bees in my Bonnet". I must have gotten his publishers copy because it still had the editing marks, some handwritten strike outs and notes ............ and this "idle" doodle on the flyleaf:

    So it seems that @Ant the Dragon lives in mortal terror of one particular B ;-) , in response MY book of the day is :

    Charlie and the chocolate factory

    because, as a kid, I dreamed of finding a golden ticket in a chocolate bar that was exclusive to me, and that i'd get a factory to, and even today, when I buy a bar, I still kinda wish I'd see one some time

    Jeez Neil did you not read the rules, or indeed the title, of this thread? Unless you lured a kid named Charlie round the back of a nestlé factory, this title does NOT describe your day!! :sulk:

    I was really surprised just now to learn that Quentin Blake's iconic illustrations were only added for the 1995 edition.

    For me, half of Roald Dahl is the illustration by Quentin Blake. I can't help thinking of David Walliams as "the new Roald Dahl" because he has the same illustrator. But the first UK edition of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory had illustrations by Faith Jaques:

    The second had illustrations by Michael Foreman, who renders Mr Wonka as a sort of Dickensian version of Marvel Comics' "Wolverine":

    Here's the Quentin Blake version I know and love:

    Oops..... thought I was in "Currently", maybe I need that nap more than I thought!

    :redface::redface::redface::redface::redface::redface::redface::redface::redface::redface::redface: I apologize

    Were they Red and sparkly by any chance? And just WHERE did you "find" them?

    I guess my day/book will have to be :
