Okay, there's been a lot of these "What you Want" and "What you don't want" threads, but I'm interested to know what your three top hopes for the series are?

    Mine would be...

    - A return to the clever humour of series 5/6, with Jokes that don't only revolve around visual and toilet themes.

    - A feeling of isolation and loneliness which was present in the first 2/3 series that really made the series unique for a sitcom.

    - More clever story lines than just Gelf and Simulant. Examples of my favourites are Timeslides and Backwards. They rely on original ideas that really made for great stories as well as some cracking jokes!

    Your thoughts?

I think you're going to be disappointed, based on what I saw :-(

Oh really? Which classic series would you most liken it to? I've been told it is remiscent of 5/6.

1/ Adventures each episode, so that in years to come you can say 'oh put that episode on, the one where they visit planet blah blah blah'. Something along the lines of Series 6.
2/ As much as I like the bunk scenes, I want to see more Cat/Kryten or Cat/Rimmer interactions. After all these years in space, they must be getting on better now, surely. I cant imagine them still bickering!
3/ Explanation as to whether nano-Rimmer did indeed die or whether he is off in another dimension somehow?

my hope is for the show to not be so reliant on the rimmer and lister bunkroom scenes, as it felt like series 8 and BTE suffered with this the most

i mean series 3 and 4 had a few but 5 and 6 had none from what i can remember and i dont think they suffered for it, but at the same time the interactions between rimmer and lister are good but only when it works for the story

An especially hilarious response because the episode ReflexReaction saw has some pretty specific structure, theme and character similarities to the episodes named in the original post!

Anyway, while it's a bit wonky to suggest VII, VIII and BTE only had jokes that relied on toilet humour - or that Series I to VI didn't have gags in that vein - I think there's a pretty clear 'loneliness' aspect to Red Dwarf X, and good stories and jokes aplenty. So, Jolly, you may end up pretty pleased.

I disagree. Series 1 and 2 are my favourite. Mainly because of the interaction between lister and rimmer. Mainly being in the bunk room.

I would like to see Starbug crashing, there was always something fun about when that would happen

Don't worry, no matter how good it is I'm sure you'll find some reason to hate it.

What I have read for all the people who have been in attendance to these episodes! Your views seem minority!

    I was only joking.

My hope is that Simulant37 likes it, if someone who hated the last 3 series likes X then you know it's good.

I'd be happy with an overnight of mid-low 1m. Though my hope is for mid 2m for at least episode 1.
