Red In The Back

Robert Llewellyn's latest news includes a rather painful injury.

23 August, 2002

As if being coated in rubber on a regular basis to play Kryten wasn't enough, poor Robert Llewellyn has suffered a back injury which caused a blip in his previously untarnished live performance record. On the morning of his first WomanWizard show in Edinburgh, Robert moved a bag... and screamed in pain. The back injury, though now on the mend, caused him to cancel his first performance in 23 years.

Interviewed on his website, Robert explained the difficulties of rewriting his show: "Due to my annoying lower back injury I can only write standing up, so this proves a little tiring." Every show at the Fringe has sold out, and reviews have been positively glowing.

Robert has also been giving the lowdown on the new series of Scrapheap Challenge - with new co-host Lisa Rogers - and his latest book, which should appear in September 2003. He also gave a quick footnote to the ongoing Red Dwarf movie saga, reiterating plans to shoot following the end of his tour in early 2003.
