Dimension Jump XVII Is Go

Fan convention returns in 2013.

20 July, 2012

With the obvious exception of the broadcast of a new series, the Official Red Dwarf Fan Club convention Dimension Jump is the biggest event on the Red Dwarf calendar. The event took a break this year after a hugely successful 2011, but will be back and raring to go next Spring to sate all your post-Series-X needs.

Dimension Jump XVII Is Go

The fan club are delighted to confirm that the seventeenth event will be held over the weekend of the 3rd, 4th and 5th of May 2013, and will once again hosted by the Birmingham City Centre Holiday Inn. Advance registration costs for the event vary depending on how early you book, and whether you're an existing TORDFC member, as follows:

From Friday 20th July - 23:59 Monday 3rd September:
£55 - Members
£65 - Non-Members

From Tuesday 4th September until the event:
£65 - Members
£80 - Non-Members

If you've never been to DJ before, the event is a three-day gathering of fans and special guests, and includes all manner of specially-arranged events - including Q&A sessions, quizzes, video showings, a Saturday night disco (which in 2011 featured a guest DJ set from Craig Charles!) and lots more. Invited guests also participate in autograph sessions - which, unlike at many other conventions, carry no extra charge! - and there are memorabilia and merchandise auctions and standing stalls. The popular "Coffee Lounge" and professional photo shoot sessions with guests will also be taking place again this time, for additional fees payable on the weekend.

The events are always well-attended by an array of Red Dwarf-related guests. Although names for 2013 have yet to be confirmed, headline guests at the last few events have included Craig Charles, Chris Barrie, Robert Llewellyn, Danny John-Jules, Chloë Annett, Hattie Hayridge and Doug Naylor. Fans have also had the chance to meet Graham McTavish, Mac McDonald, Lee Cornes, John Lenehan, Richard O'Callaghan, Steven Wickham, The Shend, Paul Alexander, Mike Tucker, Peter Tyler, Alan Marshall, Nick Kool and many more.

A special room rate has been agreed with the hotel for DJ attendees, and can be booked directly at £70 per night for a single, or £77.50 for a double/twin - with breakfast included. You can find out how to book - and much, much more info about the convention in general - over at TORDFC's dedicated site. You should also keep your eye on their Twitter feed for the latest news and updates.

Although the event is nearly a year away, places are limited, so don't delay - if you want to be part of the biggest celebration of Red Dwarf X, get booking early!

While Grant Naylor Productions fully supports the Dimension Jump convention, please note that it is not a GNP event and is organised and run by the official Fan Club.
