It's the most wonderful time of the year - the time when you have to run around in mid-December figuring out what the heck to get everybody for Christmas. With a new range of merchandise and another new series out on disc, there's more Red Dwarf out there in the world than there has been for many years.
This year, we've arranged our recommended buying options by price, in the style of a handy sliding-scale gift guide. Admittedly our scale doesn't go up to the particularly expensive end of things - the Red Dwarf-branded gold-encrusted iPad Pro is still patent pending - but whatever your budget you should find something Dwarfy you can pick up for a friend, family member, co-worker... or maybe just a sneaky treat for yourself.
Under £5 - Just the Smegs DVD
For two successive Christmases in the 1990s, the Smeg Ups and Smeg Outs videos were the most exciting thing you could find under the tree. Now, in 2017, you can get the two of them combined on a single DVD for a penny less than a fiver. What a time we live in.

That's right, a Blu-ray set for under a tenner! The 2009 Dave comeback special is the first Red Dwarf to be shot in high-definition, and this set features both the original broadcast three-parter and the feature-length Director's Cut, complete with Doug Naylor commentary. Plus all the usual making of, Smeg Ups, deleted scenes and other extras you've come to expect.

£10 - Series X Blu-ray
Only marginally more expensive than its predecessor, the 2012 series is now available in HD for a bargainous ten pounds on Amazon at the time of writing. Six classic episodes that saw Red Dwarf make its triumphant full-time return, along with the epic We're Smegged making of documentary.

£11 - Series XI Blu-ray
Okay, these prices really are getting silly, now. Despite only coming out a year ago, you can already get Red Dwarf's eleventh series for £10.99 on Amazon. Relive it all - from Twentica to Can of Worms and everything in between - for less than the cost of a few pints of Leopard Lager.

Perfect for the office Secret Santa: Lister's favourite cartoon character, now immortalised in a handy beverage container. And you can write "Don't be a mug" on the gift tag, if you're in need of a little Christmas joke to go with it.

The cheapest way to own the most recent series on shiny disc with a whole surfeit of bonus extras. Okay, so you don't get the episodes in HD - but that's the only thing you're missing out on, as you otherwise get everything else you'd find in the Blu-ray set. And you get a nifty reversible cover to match the previous series sets.

The Red Dwarf Omnibus - collecting the first two novels Infinity Welcomes Careful Drivers and Better than Life - was first published fifteen years ago. And it's still in print. That's remarkable, isn't it? If you know someone who's somehow never got their hands on a copy, then now's the time - in an increasingly digital world, books still make a lovely and properly unwrappable Christmas present.

Whenever we check up on the price of this boxset - which collects every episode from the first eight series of the show - we like to do a little calculation of how much it now costs per episode. At the current listed price (£16.39 at the time of writing) it stands at 31.5p. iTunes should be so lucky.

Enjoy the latest series as it was meant to be seen: in beautiful 1080p HD on Blu-ray. In the quickest ever turnaround between series and home release, Red Dwarf XII was out the Monday after the series had finished airing on Dave - so we've given you plenty of time to buy as many copies for Christmas presents as humanly possible...
