Every Android Has His Day

Fan club convention books Tony Slattery.

18 May, 2018

The thirtieth anniversary Dimension Jump fan convention - also the twentieth event that the Official Red Dwarf Fan Club have put on - is increasingly shaping up to be a very special event. And the drip-feed of information regarding the guests that have been booked for the show has turned up another doozy, in the shape of Tony Slattery.

Every Android Has His Day

Tony was of course a hugely high-profile figure on British television (and in movies) in the late 1980s and early 1990s, and had a decade-spanning pair of appearances in Red Dwarf: first as the Androids soap opera droid actor in Kryten, and then as Rimmer's vending machine nemesis in Only the Good...

Despite being such a long-time fixture of the show, however, Tony - who stepped back from the public eye after the late 1990s - has never appeared at a convention before. So this is sure to be a hugely exciting appearance, and we can't wait to hear his reflections not only on appearing in Dwarf, but on an illustrious career that has recently seen him return to live comedy after a long break.

DJ XX is taking place on the weekend of 5th - 7th October 2018 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Nottingham, with already-announced guests including Mac McDonald, Norman Lovett, Hattie Hayridge and Ian Boldsworth - and plenty more likely to follow! The event is now sold out for weekend passes but if you'd like to join the waiting list for returns, please visit the Fan Club website to find out more.

And we will of course bring you highlights of the event both live on social media over the weekend, and afterwards here on the website, in our usual inimitable fashion...
