Ready To Launch

Danny's dancing and Robert's writing - both on the way imminently!

14 September, 2018

This may be the first autumn in three years without any new Red Dwarf in it - but with a Blu-ray and a fan club convention on the way in October, it's hardly short of activity, either. And it's also a really good time if you want to see the Dwarf crew cracking on with work outside the show, with Danny John-Jules and Robert Llewellyn both about to see major projects come to fruition.

Ready To Launch

In Danny's case, of course, it's his appearance on the new series of BBC One's Strictly Come Dancing. After the launch show last week, which saw Danny partnered up with dancer Amy Dowden, the show kicks off properly in just a week's time, on Saturday 22nd September.

After the first week, you'll be able to vote for Danny each week as he tangos, cha-cha-chas and waltzes it out against fellow celebs including pop stars Faye Tozer and Lee Ryan, CBBC's Dr Ranj Singh, comedian Seann Walsh, and cricketer Graeme Swann - let's see if he can make it all the way to the final!

Elsewhere, we've got good news for those of you waiting for Robert's new memoir, Some Old Bloke. The book was first announced last year, you might recall, and will see Robert telling a fuller autobiography than his previous, Red Dwarf-centric The Man In The Rubber Mask. Of course, we'd be amazed if there isn't plenty of Dwarf in this one as well - but also all kinds of other material relating to Robert's six decades on earth.

Ready To Launch

And the news is that the book has now gone off to print, meaning it's on schedule for a November 2018 release date! If you pre-backed the book via Unbound beforehand, you should get your copy pretty quickly upon release - and if you didn't, never fear, you'll be able to pick it up shortly afterwards!

We'll bring you further details on how to get your hands on the book, and on how you can support Danny in Strictly, as they happen! And don't forget to keep following us on @RedDwarfHQ for all the latest, too...
