Did You Know?

It's hard to imagine now, given his iconic status in Red Dwarf history, but originally Mr Flibble was only intended as a placeholder. The penguin glove-puppet was hastily assembled by Howard Burden while the crew scoured the shops for a more complex puppet - but it quickly became apparent that the supposedly temporary solution was an ideal permanent fixture.

Rather than being a new build, the Quarantine set for this episode was simply the existing sleeping quarters repainted - requiring the top bunk to be covered up, to account for the script's reference to single-bunk accommodation!
