Queeg

Written by Rob Grant & Doug Naylor
Directed by Ed Bye

Synopsis

Holly's been deposed and the backup computer Queeg 500 is in control of the Red Dwarf. Will Lister and Cat lead a revolt after they've cleaned the corridor floors? Will Rimmer's legs ever be the same again after Queeg's fitness regime? Has Holly got something up his sleeves? Would he know where to look if he had sleeves anyway?

Cast

Chris Barrie (Rimmer), Craig Charles (Lister), Danny John-Jules (Cat), Norman Lovett (Holly), Charles Augins (Queeg)

Did You Know?

Charles Augins (Queeg) was known to the crew via Danny John-Jules, to whom he had been a mentor for several years, but was also well known for a famous appearance in a 1986 Babycham commercial. As well as being hired for this episode, he would choreograph the "Tongue Tied" sequence in Parallel Universe.

For the first - but not the last - time, composer Howard Goodall's voice appears in an episode, in this instance singing a few bars of "Do Not Forsake Me, O My Darlin" (the Oscar-winning theme from the 1952 movie High Noon).

Meanwhile, when Holly is switched off (and in a parody of the "Daisy, Daisy" sequence from 2001: A Space Odyssey), Norman Lovett sings the opening lines of the Carpenters' 1972 hit "Goodbye to Love".
