    Bump

So come on then - the past three weeks have shown how reliant this forum is on me, @Cloud and @Nikki the Great (and @kry102001 )

Despite desperate (and somewhat woeful) attempts by @Bluey and @neilold to keep the forum going, it failed.

Why is posting at such a low? I know why I haven’t bothered here for a while... care to share your reasons?

Just had a lot going on irl myself and then every time I looked here it seemed depressing, so I stopped bothering for a bit.

I agree though, it's clear who really keeps this forum going. Remember how Harry aka @Diet_coke aka @terrorform and @simulant37 used to smug about, saying the forum would die if THEY left? Hahahahahaha.

Same as Nikz it's been a really bad month personally for me and I haven't really been home till recently and even when back things are a bit bad. When I did come on it was just a certain bafoon spamming terrible threads so I didn't bother.

I will attempt to pick up the pace a bit more now.

I tried but usually just get insults or indifference, so I don't really bother doing new threads much any more

    A forum need two things:

    1. A strong nucleus of regulars.
    2. A constant influx of newbies to replace the regulars that drift away.

Some of the regulars have drifted away, which is something that has always happened, but in the past there would be plenty of newbies to replace them. People's internet habits have changed. Years ago new seasons of Red Dwarf would bring hundreds of newbies to the forum, but the last couple brought in very few. These days people don't seem to talk about new TV shows on forums like this one. Nowadays they use social media I suppose.

What we're witnessing is the slow death of the forum.

I had lot work to do, but I had some time to read the forum. There wasn't any good new posts to react to, so I didn't bother and I didn't one to start a new discussion about something, because I had no time to do so and I it was probably they wouldn't drag any reactions...

And that, my friend, is why the forum is in its death throes

Seriously? You think because you haven’t posted a load of nonsensical horror threads that no one ever reads is the reason we have lost so many members?!?! Jed was the only one who ever read them - and you got all angry at him... show some consistency Neil Old

I’ve said it once I’ll say it again - the forum needs a dedicated advertising campaign!!!!

Why isn’t it ever mentioned on the red dwarf / Dave pages on Facebook and Twitter? Are we all that embarrassing we need hiding from the public ?!?!

I think the fact that no new people can really join hurts. The last new person approved was Duke the dumpster and that was months ago!

Yes the lack of fresh blood hurts, the lack of anything happening in the RD Universe hurts and the lack of things to respond to hurts. I’ve tried to kick some life into things occasionally but there just isn’t enough people posting regularly to get discussions going. Also like everyone I have a busy life.

Everybody reads my threads ant, they just don't appreciate them. As for an advertising campaign, I vote that down. I vote that down like I'd vote down an open border brexit deal

Helpful as ever! And why would you “vote it down” exactly?

It's probably gonna be hard to get much of an influx of newbies, cos they're rarely, if ever approved it seems. And by the time they are, they've lost interest.

Give me £1200 and I will pay an advert before and after Red Dwarf on TV.
