Up and coming director Julius Amedume must be counting his blessings. It was a chance meeting with Red Dwarf's Cat which led to the actor taking a keen interest in Amedume's short film script, The Meeting.

Meeting Danny

"I met Danny by chance in a bar in West London and pitched him my idea," the director told reddwarf.co.uk. "We exchanged numbers and had a few further meetings over drinks to discuss the script, characters, and how I wanted to direct the piece. After reading the script he decided to help me out and star in my short film."

Corrine Kempa co-stars as a ruthless investment banker who meets a secondary school teacher - Danny John-Jules. "The film is about an intimate meeting which takes place between two people, the conversation they get into whilst waiting for a train. I was inspired to write this film because I wanted to explore how people have different morals and standards within our society. Plus it's a classic story of good versus evil."

Meeting Danny

"I used to watch the show a lot on BBC2. I liked all the characters, but Danny's character, the Cat, was my favourite. I found directing him quite enjoyable, and he got into the character quickly. He was also very patient and kept the crew in stitches between scenes."

A screening of The Meeting is planned for the 29th of July during the 'Uncut' event at The Institute of Contemporary Arts in London.
