One Hit Wonderland

Recurring Dwarf guest star Tony Hawks releases his new book - and it's smegging funny.

26 July, 2002

Tony Hawks - familiar to Red Dwarf fans as Caligula, the Backwards compere, Better Than Life host, talking suitcase and the Future Echoes vending machine (phew!) - will see his third book arrive on the shelves on August 1st. (You can also catch Tony's adventures on the Discovery Channel from Monday, July 29th at 8pm.)

Hang on to your socks!

Following 'Round Ireland with a Fridge' and 'Playing the Moldovians at Tennis', Tony has taken on a brand new challenge for 'One Hit Wonderland'. Having entered the UK top five in 1988 with the Morris Minor and the Majors song 'Stutter Rap', he is now on a quest to come up with a brand new hit.

Travelling far and wide - from Nashville to Amsterdam, the Sudan to Albania - this new book follows his attempts to have a hit with songs like 'You Broke My Heart Like a Bird's Egg (But Now the Yolks On You)'. Will advice from Pop Idol's Simon Cowell and assistance from Norman Wisdom make the difference?

Anyone who has read Tony's previous books will know what to expect here - hilariously anecdotal stories from a man prone to taking on utterly bizarre gambling challenges. The style is actually very close to Robert Llewellyn's own autobiographical books, and Dwarf fans will find much to enjoy. The very best is saved for last as Tony tries to make Sir Norman Wisdom a chart-topper. With lyrics (by Sir Tim Rice!) such as "They've got Norman-mania - he's big in Albania", how can he fail?

As One Hit Wonderland hits shops, fans can also hear Tony's dulcet tones on a bonus CD being promoted at branches of WH Smith across the UK. Mr Flibble Talks to... Tony Hawks will appear right here on reddwarf.co.uk from August 9th.
