Deep Game

Get ready to roleplay Red Dwarf with the brand new game book from Deep7.

28 February, 2003

Grab your mates and get the beers in - Red Dwarf - The Roleplaying Game has arrived. Ever fancied being the last human being alive, with only a photo of Fiji for company? Well, no, you probably haven't. But this is a whole new universe.

Deep Game

The game book is available now in the USA and is a chance to drop into the Red Dwarf universe in any way you like. Become a hologram, a surviving human, a mechanoid or a super-evolved house-pet - the choice is yours.

The roleplaying game has been created by Deep7, headed up by husband and wife team Todd and Samantha Downing, who have striven to keep the game book in the familiar Dwarf style. 'The humour was the easy part,' Sam told reddwarf.co.uk. 'There's a wealth of established formulae in the existing eight series of Dwarf, and we got some really great writers on the project.'

'All we've done is take elements of the show and codified them for use in play,' adds Todd, who has also seen the games from playtest groups yield some bizarre results. 'There was one group that had a wax droid of Niles Crane from Frasier! There was another group with an evolved iguana, a human, a hologram and a wax droid of Ozzy Osbourne - that wins the prize for most original use of a wax droid character!'

Deep Game

The release of the game book is only the beginning of Deep7's support. Coming soon is an AI Screen - a handy add-on for the poor fool entrusted with running the game, including an 'Extra Bits Book' which adds new worlds and twists - and their website is poised for a fan influx. Towards the end of 2003 Deep7 are planning a Series Sourcebook which profiles the people, gadgets and creatures from all eight series, theoretically enabling players to run through the entire Red Dwarf storyline.

Red Dwarf - The Roleplaying Game is available now from the USA Red Dwarf Shop.
