Don't you just love a summer convention? Hundreds of fans gathering in the sunshine to eat, drink and be merry. Oh, and maybe talk about Red Dwarf a bit.

Dimension Jump 2004 is brought to you once again by The Official Red Dwarf Fan Club. (And if you're not a member, click here and get your backsides in gear!) It's a chance to meet cast and crew, socialise with other like-minded fans, and possibly even dress up in a gingham dress; y'know, if that's your thing... at least now you'll have an excuse.

While it's always been hard for the club to confirm guests before the weekend, last year's convention featured a massive line-up, and there's no reason to think that this year will be any different. Work-permitting, the names so-far on the slate include Chris Barrie, Hattie Hayridge, Danny John-Jules, Robert Llewellyn and SFX model master Mike Tucker.

Special guests this time around include one-time Talkie Toaster and hilarious comic-magician John Lenahan and Shend - Series VIII's Warden Knot, a remarkable personality and an even weirder name. (You can hear from the man himself, who also showed up in Rob Grant's Dark Ages, here.) Also doing a brief question-and-answer session will be Andrew Ellard from Grant Naylor Productions, so you can find out more about the work that goes on behind the scenes.

The Propstore of London will also be showing up, providing a display of props and costumes from the show. If you have the spondooliks, you might even be able to take one of these prized items home! Of course, the club will also be running its own ever-traditional auction, too - as well as the ever-dreaded costume competition.

Registration for the entire weekend - which includes a chance to grab autographs from the guests - costs only £55 for club members. (£65 for non-members.) Rooms at the Bedford Moat House Hotel venue are now fully booked, but hotels nearby include the Embankment on 01234 261332, Woodlands Manor on 01234 363281 and the Swan on 01234 346565.

The event kicks off at 7pm, Friday night and finishes at around 5pm on the Sunday. You can get more details here, or by visiting the Fan Club website via Links. Alternatively, you can email the club at info.tordfc@gmail.com.
