Better Late Than Never

BTL reaches issue 50 - and not before time!

3 March, 2006

Talk to Fan Club chairman James Bull about the latest issue of BTL, and you're talking to a man who wishes he could turn the clock back. The club magazine was due out in July 2005 - which makes the seven-month delay positively head-spinning.

Better Late Than Never

So how come the delivery time on this issue rivals Lister's time is stasis? "Three million years? It does seem that the impending issue of BTL 50 has taken this long, but I can assure you it's only been two million years..." James replies.

"Its absence has many factors attributed to it. Three team members have moved house. In that time the main computer, which had all the vital templates for producing BTL, was lost. We had backups, but no computer." Such are the trials of a club that has, since its humble beginnings in the late 80s, always been by and for the fans - non-commercial, and run entirely in the team's spare time.

"It has been a frustrating time for fan and team member alike," James concludes, "and the whole team would like to apologise for the massive delay this has caused." Members can be reassured that membership guarantees four issues of the magazine, not a calendar year subscription.

With promises that the club's starship has now turned the corner - look out for BTL 51 in three months, a Dimension Jump special - attention turns to the content of issue 50.

"BTL talks exclusively to Nigel Davis! He's sound man, very sound indeed, he's booming marvellous! He takes us through his life to the pinnacle of his incredible career, when he worked on Red Dwarf VIII." Aside from this rare interview, BTL has all the usual competitions, gossip, news and reviews. Plus a behind-the-scenes report on Memorabilia that's definitely worth a squizz.

We look eagerly forward to BTL's second half-century!
