Mac In The Red

Captain Hollister returns to Tennessee Williams.

6 April, 2007

When Mr Flibble met Mac McDonald for the first time - interviewing him in readiness for the website's launch - he was appearing in Tennessee Williams' Baby Doll with Jonathan Cake.

Mac In The Red

Now time has spun around and, seven years later, Mac is back in Williams' New Orleans - by way of London's South Bank - for The Rose Tattoo at The National Theatre.

Co-directed by the late Steven Pimlott (who passed away in February, before completion of the project) and Nicholas Hytner (who you may know from cinematic ventures such as The History Boys, The Crucible and The Madness of King George), the play stars Zoe Wannamaker and tells the story of a widow in Louisiana who has retreated from the world around her - until her daughter finally breaks away and a handsome Italian truck-driver arrives...

The show is now on, and runs until August 9th.
